Your project must directly support or complement Veterans Collaborative’s mission, vision, and approach—focusing on improving access to resources, opportunities, and wellness for veteran and military-connected communities.

We prioritize projects that are:

• Veteran, service member, or military spouse-led

• Community-based and impact-driven

• Focus on service and impact

2. Project Team & Budget

Every fiscally sponsored project must designate a Project Director, who will serve as the main point of contact and steward the initiative’s development and fundraising.

Requirements:

• One committed team lead or Project Director

• A realistic 1-year operating budget at the time of application

• A plan to remain within the sponsorship program for at least two years

• A demonstrated commitment to growing your project and sustaining its impact

3. Legal & Structural Fit

Veterans Collaborative maintains full legal and fiduciary oversight of all fiscally sponsored ventures. To ensure compliance with state and federal law—including IRS regulations for 501(c)(3) organizations—each project must:

• Operate from a U.S. base

• Serve a charitable purpose

• Avoid any form of political activity, including support or opposition to candidates or parties

• Refrain from engaging in lobbying activities—whether direct, indirect, or grassroots
