Veterans Collaborative is committed to respecting the privacy of our partners, donors, ventures, and greater community. Acknowledging that one of the barriers and risks to vital resources for our intended Veteran and military audience is privacy, this Privacy Policy will tell you how we use data and the rights that you have regarding this information shared.

Website: When you visit the Website, we may collect the following information from you:

  • Aggregate and Personal data for Website Visitor Information including IP addresses, referring/exit pages, date/time stamps, and duration of time spent on our Website, mobile device or other device you engaged on, type of browser and operating system, country, location, behaviors on the website, and various Cookies (standard data).

  • Other third party services like Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn when you comment, follow, like, or engage with a our posts. Please refer to the Privacy Policy of other services on how they collect, use, and share data.

From you, with consent:

  • Emailing list sign-up: When you sign up to receive information, you provide us with your first name, last name, and your email address.

  • Data through On-Line Forms: Name, Address, Email, and etc. when submitted by visitor.

  • Correspondences through email or phone call

  • Donations and various information from donors, including: gift amount and designation, mailing and email addresses, telephone number(s), spouse/partner name, and any relevant comments. Tax laws and other regulations in the United States and the State of Virginia require Veterans Collaborative to keep contact information and contribution histories of donors on file.

How we use your data:

Veterans Collaborative uses the information described in this Privacy Policy to exclusively support Veterans Collaboratives’ mission— to serve active-duty service members, Veterans, and their families. Furthermore, we use the data collected to communicate with you when requested and as needed, and to enhance your experiences with Veteran Collaborative Solutions. Specifically, we use contact information (mailing and email address and telephone number) of donors for:

  • Distributing receipts for donations

  • Thanking donors for their donation

  • Informing donors about giving options and other activities related to our mission

  • Internal analysis and record keeping

  • Reporting to relevant U.S. and State agencies (these reports are not for public inspection)

  • Contacting donors about changes to this policy

You can provide your actual data on forms and always retain the right to remain anonymous, unsubscribe, opt-out, or request that we remove non essential aspects of your data from our systems. We will not disclose your personal information to others nor will we ever sell your personal information to advertisers or other third parties. However, with any information you give over the web, your information may be shared in the following ways:

  • Third Party Service Providers: Veterans Collaborative may work with service providers that help execute mission essential services such as communication emails. In the course of providing these services, our providers may have access to your information. We adhere to strict privacy regulations with our vendors but there is always a chance.

Financial Information:
All access to donor financial information is strictly limited to the professional staff of Veterans Collaborative whose job requires them to view or use this data for the purposes described above.  No such data is given to any staff member who does not need to access this data. Donor records are kept securely and as part of an internally maintained donor database that is housed in a protected environment.

We share information with our independent auditors and tax professionals so they may conduct our annual financial and compliance audit and complete our tax returns.  These professionals are bound by confidentiality requirements consistent with the industry.

Veterans Collaborative uses a third-party vendor to accept contributions via credit card. This service uses accredited online payment processing services and is fully PCI-compliant. Unless requested by the donor for the purpose of processing recurring donations, Veterans Collaborative does not store, nor does it have access to, a donor’s credit card information, bank account numbers, or other account data sent to those processing services.

Legal and Safety Reasons:

We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that it’s necessary 1) in connection with any legal investigation; 2) to comply with relevant laws or two respond to legal notices; 3) to protect or defend our rights or property or users of our Services; 4) to investigate or assist in preventing any violations of the law.

Choices and Rights over your Personal Data:

You have the following rights with respect to the personal data we have about you:

  • Change or correct personal data

  • Object to, limit, or restrict use of personal data

  • Right to access and/or take your personal data

Children:

This Solution is not designed or intended for children under the age of 16. If we become aware that we have this information of such children through the Solutions, we will promptly delete it.

If you reside in California and have provided your personally identifiable information to Veterans Collaborative, you may request information once per calendar year about our disclosures of certain categories of your personally identifiable information to third parties for their direct marking purposes.
